Mission Trails Regional Park is showcasing the work of Alpine artist, Vanessa Rusczyk,a painter of the native plants of Southern California.

Part of "Art in the Park 2014" program Vanessa was selected for a solo exhibition.

On display are 30 pieces depicting the plants found not only on a nature hike at the Park but in the County of San Diego.

Vanessa, who started painting as an adult, is a native of New Jersey, and moved to Southern California with her husband, Richard.

Her work beautifully shows the grace and light of native flowers like Birds of Paradise but also the strong, tough cactus found in the area.

Vanessa's work was selected for display on the Park's brochure's front cover for Art in the Park 2014 program along with several other artists.

Her work will be on display the month of February 2014.
