Vanessa Hudgens has left her “High School Musical” days far behind by starring in a steamy threesome scene in the movie “Spring Breakers.” However, according to a March 13 report by MTV, she was very uncomfortable shooting the sex scene with costars James Franco and Ashley Benson.
It might be a bit surprising that Vanessa is shy about showing off her body -- after all, this is a gal whose nude sexting photos are still floating around on the web. However, “Spring Breakers” might have scared Vanessa into keeping herself covered. Here’s what she told MTV News about her threesome scene: “The thing I was most scared of was the sex scene and the nudity issue behind all of it. Because I was not down to show this.” She then gestured to her chest, so she wasn’t wild about going all "Girls Gone Wild" and flashing her breasts on camera. But all she had to do was tell herself that she wasn't revealing anything new to the world by getting topless.
Maybe James Franco’s appearance made Vanessa Hudgens uncomfortable -- his character Alien looks like K-Fed squared with his cornrows and gold-capped teeth. Luckily Ashley Benson didn’t find the threesome scene quite as uncomfortable, which could be because she and Franco are allegedly dating. Here’s what Vanessa said about Ashley helping her out during the sexy pool scene: “Hallelujah for Ashley, and the fact that it was a pool kind of made it a lot of fun. I was like, ‘Peace out for a second. I'm going to swim around.’” And while Vanessa found the scene hard to shoot, she was happy with the way it turned out. The star dubbed the end result “really beautiful and artistic.”
Vanessa and Ashley are joining a very exclusive club by filming a threesome scene in a mainstream movie. Even though it’s every guy’s fantasy to be with two girls at once, the ménage à trois is a cinema rarity. The steamy “Wild Things” scene starring Matt Dillon, Neve Campbell, and Denise Richards is probably the most notorious one ever shot. Scarlett Johansson, Penelope Cruz, and Javier Bardem also make a titillating trio in “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” but there’s no nudity in the Woody Allen movie. Flesh is flashed in the 1982 movie "Summer Lovers," which stars Peter Gallagher, Daryl Hannah, and Valerie Quennessen.
Then there are the films that feature a different kind of ménage à trois -- two guys and a girl. This dynamic can be seen in Kristen Stewart’s movie “On The Road,” as well as in “The Dreamers,” “Y Tu Mama Tambien,” “Savages,” and “Threesome.”
So what do you think of the movie ménage à trois -- is it always gratuitous and ridiculous, or can it be beautiful and artistic?
