In a stunning Friday afternoon ruling that allows the ATF--the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives--to continue with the scandal and its consequences surrounding the 'Project Gunwalker' scheme, a federal judge has decided to allow the bureau to proceed with its new 'long-gun' regulations, mandating firearms sales registration for anyone buying over 2 long guns in a 24 hour period in the states along the Mexican border.
Mike Vanderboegh, the reporter who first broke the Gunwalker scandal, also known as 'Operation Fast and Furious, stated in response to the ruling, "The black-robed scoundrels strike again."
Vanderboegh went further to say that the ruling allows the scandal to continue despite the fact that its cover was blown in December of 2010, when conscientious ATF agents blew the whistle on the corruption within the bureau that led to the Gunwalker fiasco.
In a nutshell, Operation Fast and Furious was implemented by the Obama Administration in 2009 in order to make a case for new gun control laws. The DOJ and the ATF supervised the deliberate smuggling of U.S. guns into Mexico, placing the firearms directly into the hands of drug cartels. When these guns were 'found,' the Obama Administration then planned on using the 'evidence' as justification for pushing for draconian new gun restrictions on U.S. citizens and licensed firearms dealers.
The proof of the scheme involving such ulterior motives lies in the fact that despite having its cover blown when the whisteblowers went public, the Administration proceeded to push for massive new gun control laws and regulations anyway, using the false meme that "90% of the guns used by the Mexican drug cartels come from the United States."
That claim has been proved to be patently false.
Yet the Administration continued to use the false statistics to implement long-gun registration in the states along the southern border--Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California.
Immediately the firearms industry challenged the new regulations in court, resulting in the ruling issued by Judge Rosemary Collyer, a George W. Bush appointee.
Gun rights activists who have for over a year decried the Administration's attempt to restrict the right to self-defense with firearms by cooking up a scheme to falsely pad gun statistics in Mexico expressed immediate outrage that a judge would allow the ATF to continue the assault on 2nd Admendment rights, although the bureau has been caught red-handed cooking books to make it appear there are more U.S. guns in Mexico than can be proved.
Gun rights groups and gun store owners in the four states effected by the ruling say they plan to appeal.
