One of the two reporters who originally broke the story concerning the ATF-DOJ gun smuggling scandal back in December of 2010 says that a new strategy is needed in the Gunwalker probe. 'Project Gunwalker,' or 'Operation Fast and Furious,' are the two most commonly used terms by the media to denote the scandal.
Mike Vanderboegh of Sipsy Street Irregulars, whose thorough and persistent work in investigating and reporting the claims of ATF whistleblowers led to national news reports on the scandal at CBS News, Fox News, and other mainstream outlets, states that the entire probe is in danger of passing from the scene, buried permanently under the current massive effort to cover up the actions of high level Administration officials who implemented an illegal operation resulting in guns deliberately being placed into the hands of Mexican drug cartels.
Some of those guns were recovered at the scene of the murder of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.
According to Vanderboegh, the scope of Darrell Issa's investigation in the U.S. House of Representatives is narrow in scope due to the restrictions of his committee's purview. Further, Vanderboegh asserts that the present state of the massive cover-up has 'Clintonistas' written all over it, that is, the Obama Administration has apparently called upon Bill and Hillary Clinton, renown experts in the art of the political cover-up, to tutor the main players in the scandal in the ways of slipping under the spotlight of Congressional probes into the night, unscathed.
What this means is that the Gunwalker probe in the U.S. House of Representatives must take a multi-pronged approach rather than the current course of confining the investigation to the Issa committee alone.
Thus, Vanderboegh proposes the following course of action:
So, it is time to open a second front, or even a third front, on the search for truth in the Gunwalker Plot. As before, since the beginning, this will have to be from the bottom up.
Here's my first suggestion. Let's get the House Foreign Affairs Committee working on the foreign policy implications of the Obama administration violating ITAR, facilitating the smuggling of weapons and committing numerous acts of war against a sovereign country and its people. There are several GOP members on this committee who are already on record about this scandal. Let's make them put their money where their mouths are.
Here's my second suggestion. Lamar Smith. From Texas, Smith is not only the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee but he sits on the House Homelands Security Committee. Both of these committees have the jurisdiction and the authority to pursue other avenues of this scandal which can complement, not conflict with, the Issa committee. We have been told off the record that the Issa committee has to focus their inquiry and not get involved in what are, to them and their brief, secondary issues.
So let's get them some help. If the GOP is sincere about getting to the bottom of this, they will use ALL their considerable resources in the House to do so.
These proposals make good common sense. The vast expanse of the scandal, involving multiple agencies of the federal government and countless political appointees, requires a full House investigation by every single standing committee that is charged with oversight of the agencies of the executive and judicial branches.
Unless such a course of action is implemented--post-haste due to the full-blown cover-up that threatens to forever hide the facts and documentation--then the electorate can only assume that the House leadership is not really serious about investigating and bringing to justice the perpetrators of what is the most serious scandal in the history of American politics.
Time to mount a concerted effort to pressure the House GOP leadership to act, via emails, faxes, phone calls.
