TV star Emily VanCamp is the selected actress to join fellow Canadian actress Cobie Smulders on Disney’s set of the highly anticipated superhero action-thriller “Captain America: Winter Soldier”. The actress’s win over peer acting candidates came via a report by The Hollywood Reporter. VanCamp’s clinch for the role establishes the largest female action hero ensemble in a single film for the Shared Cinematic Universe project begun by Marvel Studios.
With Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow and Smulders’ Agent Maria Hill, the former “Brothers & Sisters” star will join “Winter Soldier” principal photography due to start in April. VanCamp attache’s into playing S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Sharon Carter amongst lead Chris Evans reprising to don the shield and star-spangled uniform.
VanCamp auditioned for the role of comics-canon Sharon Carter, gaining the part above actresses who were in talks far back amidst the early weeks of Oct. in 2012, when the part had yet to be identified.
Agent Carter has comic book renown being a fierce and prominent attaché within S.H.I.E.L.D. Commander Nick Fury’s adjutant circle. Her partnering affairs linking regular inclusions in story arcs – of which are highlights in issues - premises off on-the-job and romantic links with Steve Rogers.
VanCamp shot to star recognition acting out Amy Abbott on “Everwood” from 2003 unto 2005. The Ontario-native nest appeared the major sequel for then-eagerly awaited horror “Ring Two” before she gained support parts within television miniseres.
