Van Halen battle Adele for No 1 album

Van Halen released their comeback album A Different Kind of Truth this week, featuring original singer David Lee Roth, and have an good chance at scoring their 6th No 1 album - provided they can squeeze past Adele.

According to an article posted yesterday (2/8/12) at Billboard.com, industry pundits predict the reunited veteran rockers should move between 180,000 to 200,000 album units, which "normally" would ensure their dominance on the Billboard 200.

The fly in the ointment for Roth and company, is that the chart topping British songbird will receive major exposure this week from a scheduled high profile appearance at the Grammy Awards on Sunday (2/12/12), her first live performance since receiving vocal surgery.

The 23-year old pop superstar is also up for 6 awards, and the massive media exposure could boost her monster-selling album 21, back to the top of the charts.

But the Grammy bump comes late in the sales week, which means VH have a decent shot at foiling the U.K. sales queen.

Van Halen's 45 stop Live Nation produced North American tour kicks off in Louisville, KY at the KFC Yum! Center on Feb. 18 (2/18/12).

The Canadian leg begins March 15 (3/15/12) in Montreal, QC at the Bell Centre and wraps up May 13 in Winnipeg, MB at the MTS Centre.

Tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster and LiveNation.com.

Did you know? Van Halen’s new album A Different Kind of Truth is the band's first studio album with original frontman David Lee Roth since his departure in 1985.
