January 20, 2012 - The synopsis for The Vampire Diaries episode Dangerous Liaisons is revealed.
Klaus (Joseph Morgan) is going to host a ballroom dance at his renovated mansion and as a surprise to all, he invites some of the gang to attend.

Of course, when Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) learn that Elena (Nina Dobrev) is going they both force her to take them with her. Meanwhile, Caroline (Candice Accola) and Matt (Zach Roerig) get invitations of their own, from some unlikely suitors.
At first, the dance seems magical as everyone dances in their beautiful ball gowns and dapper tuxes. Caroline ends up dancing with Klaus and the pair look like characters from a fairy tale together... However, it isn't long before things turn ugly.

Elena finds out about a horrifying plan, which will get many people killed, and she has to decide who to trust. In her own corner of the ballroom, Caroline gets to see a new side of Klaus, but is it going to tie in to the disaster that is looming?
As expected, things end terribly after the violent-turned evening, and a hopeless Damon won't be coping well. Does that mean that Elena has eyes for Stefan again? Or maybe she's given up on both brothers?

SOME ENCHANTED EVENING — Elena is surprised to receive an invitation to a formal ball, and when Damon and Stefan hear the party is being hosted at Klaus’s newly renovated mansion, they both insist on attending the event with her. Caroline and Matt also receive invitations to the ball from unexpected admirers. At the elegant party, Elena learns of a horrifying plan that could lead to numerous deaths and she must decide who she can trust with her new information. Caroline discovers a side of Klaus no one would have suspected. Finally, after an evening of violence and dashed hopes, Damon finds a new way to cope.
