March 25, 2011 - Katerina Graham from The Vampire Diaries dished on whether her character Bonnie will die for Elena (Nina Dobrev) when the time comes to protect her friend's life.
On the last episode before the hiatus, things seemed to end well for Bonnie as she got her witch powers back from Jonas before he died.
However, that was not the only thing Jonas left her with, as Bonnie now possesses the knowledge on how to kill Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and save Elena.

So, this has inevitably raised the question on whether Bonnie will have to offer the ultimate sacrifice to save her best friend Elena when evil Original vampire Klaus comes to town.
"Bonnie Bennett hasn’t really had much of a family growing up, that’s already been established." Katerina told MTV. "So the relationship she has with Elena, she’s constantly putting herself on the line."

This could mean that when Klaus gets ready to sacrifice Elena to end the sun and moon curse, Bonnie may have to do the ultimate and put her own life at risk to save Elena. Katerina would not reveal if that will happen, but she did not sound very positive in her answer.
"I can’t really say, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she did." Katerina said.

If fans of The Vampire Diaries have learned anything so far, it is to expect anything from the show. With its crazy twists and shocking endings, this show really is open to anything, and this includes losing key major characters at any moment.
With another witch coming to town, that being Jonas' daughter Greta (Lisa Tucker), a switch could very well be in order. Hopefully though, we will get to keep the Bonnie we've come to love and admire, whether Greta stays or not.

In the meantime, fans can keep their fingers crossed that the whole gang makes it out alive by the end of the finale. Unfortunately, some rumors have already been making the rounds about a main character biting the dust by the end of season 2.
Let's hope they are just that, rumors! But only time will tell...
