"The Vampire Diaries" will return on Jan. 17 and there is much speculation on what will happen next. Luckily, there are some spoilers that should keep fans content until the show returns to the air. On Jan. 4, Spoilers Guide revealed some information on Elena's emotional state.
One of "The Vampire Diaries" spoilers regarding Elena's state of mind is that she feels a sense of loss because she cannot be around Damon. At the same time, she feels guilty for how much she hurt Stefan.
Even though there will be other matters to attend to, Elena cannot help but wonder if her feelings for Damon are real or not.
It seems like Elena's emotional state will end up leaving her vulnerable and confused. Because she is focusing so much on her feelings, she might end up even more bewildered. How does she determine if her feelings for Damon are real or not?
