Damon and Elena will be headed to New York City in episode 17 this season, according to Screen Spy. Damon will take Elena away to help her deal with loss of Jeremy. They will not be entirely alone though. Rebekah will follow the pair.
Elena will go through a lot of changes following Jeremy's death, and those changes will have an impact on her relationships. One relationship it will impact is her relationship with Caroline. Julie Plec revealed the following about the two girls:
"Caroline in her darkest day has never been anything but a fixer, and her efforts to fix Elena and try to get her on the right track are not going to go over so well. These girls are peers and best friends, but one of their behaviors has changed, so it’s a real world paradigm of high school friendships, with one friend getting out of control and what you try to do about it and how they respond to you."
Plec also revealed that fans will see more of Klaus and Caroline's relationship as well. She also teased that the relationship will not end if "The Originals" spin off by CW is successful. There is more coming in the second half of season four as well. Fans will see the prom and graduation before season four ends, but Plec would not reveal who Elena's date to the prom is this season.
