On Tuesday, “The Originals” added another vampire to the mix. Charles Michael Davis has been cast in the potential “Vampire Diaries” spinoff as Marcel.
Deadline was the first to report the news that Davis had landed the key role as Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) former protégé. The character is described as being “wicked, wild and charismatic. Marcel is a former kicked-around street rat who now calls the shots in the supernatural playground of New Orleans. As a modern-day vampire, he’s fierce and bold and able to accomplish as much with his charm as he is with his strength.”
“The Originals” is set to air as a backdoor pilot in “The Vampire Diaries” episode scheduled to air on April 25. If it goes to series, the drama will focus on the Original family of vampires as Klaus returns to the French Quarter of New Orleans, a town he helped build centuries ago. Elijah (Daniel Gillies) will also be on hand to help his self-destructive brother find redemption, even if that means siding with Marcel’s enemies.
Phoebe Tonkin and Daniella Pineda have previously been announced as potential series regulars if the show is picked up. “Vampire Diaries” executive producer Julie Plec will write the script for the backdoor pilot.
Davis’ prior TV roles include “The Game,” “Switched at Birth” and “That’s So Raven.”
“The Vampire Diaries” airs Thursdays at 7 p.m. CST on The CW. “The Originals” will air April 25.
