Elijah is joining his brother Klaus in New Orleans if "The Originals" moves forward on the CW. Gillies said the following about the series and his involvement with it, according to TV Fanatic:
"Julie Plec has been talking about this for a little while and to be honest with you, I never thought it was going to become a reality. I just thought it was a cool idea she threw around and I did not dare to dream that it would come to fruition. I knew that if it did, we would be a part of it, but I didn’t want to get ahead of myself. But I feel very blessed that it is closer to becoming a reality now."
Gillies also revealed that the plot of the series will follow the current lives of the original family of vampires, but fans will also get glimpses of their long lives. The family has been around for 1000 years, and fans will see more flashbacks to what happened in their pasts.
Fans are buzzing about this series on social media. One fan said the following on Twitter recently:
OMG!! I'm watching #B4U and I just found out that they are going to have a spinoff of #TVD wit Klaus as the lead in #theOriginals!! #EXCITED
"The Vampire Diaries" will continue to air on Channel 6 in Tempe on Thursday nights.
