February 9, 2012 - The Vampire Diaries producers talk episode 14, Dangerous Liaisons, and spill about Esther's request to talk to Elena.
Julie Plec and Caroline Dries reveal some details on the big ball event that takes place on Dangerous Liaisons.

On Thursday's episode, our favorite Original family is throwing an elegant ball hosted by the mother of all vampires herself, Esther (Alice Evans). So, when Elena (Nina Dobrev) receives an invitation to not only attend the ball, but to speak with Esther as well, things get a little tricky.
Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) do not like the idea of Elena going to the ball alone, so they both decide to accompany her and protect her during the event. This, according to Julie, will not end well for the trio, and as we already know from the promo preview, the dance is going to end in typical Mystic Falls violent fashion.

During this producers' preview, we are also shown the current dynamics of the Original family, which are not under ideal conditions at this time. Everyone is mad at Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and there is some infighting going on, with daggering threats being thrown left and right.
Esther, however, is bent of turning her children into a happy family, which seems to be more about some kind of hidden agenda rather than a real want for a Brady Bunch-like reunion. What is the Original Witch and Mother really up to? And, are we also going to find out how she was kept alive for 1000 years without being a vampire? Did someone turn her?
