Actor Paul Wesley's acting resume is pretty hot, but of all the roles he's encountered, none have quite the female draw like playing that of a blood-sucking vampire.
"Stefan hates being a vampire,” Wesley said of his on-screen ego, "Stefan Salvatore", a 150-year-old vampire.
Wesley, on the other hand, loves his new role.
“People are really responding to Stefan and I’m just now starting to go, ‘This is nice, this feels good, this feels really like, nice to have people appreciate this character,’” he said in a talk with Access Hollywood.
But in an interview with People magazine, titled "TV's Hottest New Vampire", the 27-year-old star confessed this wasn't his first time to walk on the wild side, playing a werewolf character in past shows.
But for his new role as Stefan in hot pursuit of on-screen love flare Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev), the actor did the opposite of Twilight New Moon's Taylor Lautner and actually had to lean down for his fang-fighting role. While Taylor added 30-pounds of muscle, Wesley focused on keeping lean like his on-screen night-crawlers.
"I'm trying to lean out as much as I can. I feel like vampires are these svelte creatures whose nutrition is essentially animal blood, so I knew that I couldn't eat all these different carbs and sugars because it just didn't feel right, physically and mentally."
He adds, "I've been limiting my intake, just because I feel like that's what Stefan does, every day. For the first time in my life, I've been doing cardio."
So ears perked up when Paul was asked for a character comparison, "Who'd win in a fight: Edward Cullen or Stefan?" iesb.net asked.
"I don't know enough about Edward Cullen, to be honest with you, so I don't know what his abilities and powers are," Wesley admitted.
"That's really up to the viewer or reader to decide. Once they start seeing the show, they can make their decision, but I have no idea. I can't even answer that."

Does it really matter? Both shows are fantastic! Why compare them in that manner, or at all for that matter? The cast members in each series are wonderful actors and actresses in their own right. Thanks for the entertainment guys and gals, I appreciate everything you go through to bring the shows to us!!!!
Look I have read all 4 twilight books and I really think that Vampires diaries is cool and Im team jacob too but NO ONE is c}gonna be best than Robert

I really like Stefan a lot but he is looking a bit anorexic! Did Hollywood make him loose all that weight?? That is ridiculous. Someone give the man some steak and potatoes please!! Love the muscles but they need to have a little meat on them too!
