On Monday, The CW announced early renewals for three of its most popular series. “The Vampire Diaries,” “Arrow” and “Supernatural” will all be back for the 2013-14 season.
“We said last year that one of our goals was to establish building blocks to grow on and now with our new hit ‘Arrow’ and fan favorite ‘Supernatural’ on Wednesday night and the continued success of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ on Thursday, we’ve been able to do that,” CW President Mark Pedowitz said in a statement announcing the renewals.
“Not only do ‘Arrow,’ ‘Supernatural’ and ‘The Vampire Diaries’ perform well on-air, they’re also extremely successful for us both digitally and socially,” Pedowitz continued in his statement. “I’m thrilled to have all three shows returning to our schedule next season.”
“Arrow” is currently the network’s highest rated show, averaging 4.3 million viewers per week. “The Vampire Diaries” is the highest rated in the target 18-34 demographic and “Supernatural” saw its ratings increase 15 percent this season among total viewers.
There is no word at this time on the fate of the network’s other dramas.
