Valve 'currently has no involvement' in Xi3 'Piston' living room PC

The proverbial "shit the bed" is a term often used when something simply does not go as planned. After an interview with Valve earlier today, it is becoming clear that the Xi3 "Piston," a potential "prototype" test bed for the rumored "Steam box," may just have done that.

A soft-ball sized PC aimed at living room based gaming caused many waves upon it's reveal last month. With little know about it's hardware specifications and price, not much could be said though. Then yesterday happened, and we got our first look at the price... and lack luster hardware Xi3 plan's to ship the Piston with. With out going to much into it, figure laptop level hardware for an insanely over priced $1000 base model (all the way up to $1700).

The hype for this product came after Valve associated themselves with this past February at CES. Today, in an interview with Eurogamer, it seems that is not the case anymore. Valve had this to say regarding their involvement with the Xi3:

"Valve began some exploratory work with Xi3 last year, but currently has no involvement in any product of theirs"

Seem's Valve knows when to back off a potential train wreck when they see it. And good riddance, as I have yet to see one person look at the Xi3 Piston after the pricing announcement and claim that it's a "good" idea.
