Voice actor John Patrick Lowrie caused quite a stir last week when he stated on his personal blog that he didn't believe that Half-Life 3 was currently in development. He has since removed one of his more definitive statements, and has replaced it with a new comment that should hopefully clear a few things up. The comment comes in response to a fan who apologized for any unwanted attention Lowrie may have received due to what was said last week:
No problem. My comments just seemed to cause a whole bunch of confusion and when I tried to minimize the confusion I misspoke and caused a whole bunch more confusion. So I thought it was best just to take the comments down.
He went on to state that he didn't mean to supposedly confirm that the long-awaited third installment in the Half-Life series was a definite no-go. He stated that voice actors are generally the last ones to know what is happening with a project and aren't told about one until they are hired for the voice work. He urged fans to listen to whatever official statements had been made by Gabe Newell, co-founder of Valve.
While this may not be a confirmation one way or the other, this clarification has already given fans newfound hope that Half-Life 3 could be in development. As for official statements on the subject, there haven't been many. Lowrie finished the conversation by going on to say that he hadn't heard anything about Left 4 Dead 3 and its supposed leak.
