Valley Metro Notes - Interview with Mill's End

I had the chance to interview Jeff who is the singer/guitarist for Mill's End who are part of the Valley Metro Notes program.  The program was started to get local bands to write "schoolhouse rock" type songs to inform the public about transportation opportunities available to them.  Mill's End wrote “All Day Transit Pass” which will premiere soon on the Metro Notes website.

What's your name and what do you play in the band?

My name is Jeff Bump, and I am a singer/guitarist for Mill's End

How long have you been in the band?

I have been with the band since it was formed in 2008.

What was it like actually playing your music on the light rail?

It was really fun, a little crazy trying to play while the train was stopping and starting but it was fun seeing the reaction from the passengers, they really seemed to enjoy it.

Why do you think it's important that people are properly instructed on how to utilize Phoenix's public transportation system?

It's important because a light rail system is a big culture change in the Valley, many people don't realize how easy public transportation is to use and how it can help them save money and clean up our air by reducing traffic.

How often do you utilize Phoenix's public transportation?

A few times a month, our house is not near a station but we try to use it when we are doing things downtown and we try to car pool when we can.

Any last words?
I think this is a really great project that makes getting info. on our transit system really fun and I appreciate the support for local music. It's been an amazing experience being a part of this effort.
