Valiant Comics has announced that Ninjak, a classic character from Valiant’s early 90s stable of heroes, will soon be making his debut appearance in X-0 Manowar #5, one of three new titles being released as part of the ‘Summer of Valiant’ relaunch. Created by Joe Quesada, Bob Layton and Mark Morreti, Ninjak was introduced in 1993 as a character with no real superpowers. Instead, we followed the super-spy exploits of Colin King, a wealthy British playboy who just so happens to be heavily trained in martial arts and dons a high-tech costume and katanna. This classic character wound up crossing over many of Valiant’s earlier titles, including the original X-O Manowar.
So how is the technologically-hardened ninja known as Ninjak finding himself in the new millennium?
“The world has changed a lot since Ninjak first debuted almost generation ago,” he says. “If you read Ninjak in the ’90s, you will instantly recognize him. But you’ll find that the bravado and cunning that defined the original are now backed by a character with a bit more depth and real-world grounding than his predecessor.”
