Valerie Young wins women's race at Garin Park Cross Country Challenge, Impalas win open team title

Valerie Young (Tamalpa), at age 43, was the overall winner of the race, the third race of the four races so far in this year's PAUSATF Grand Prix Cross Country series to be won by a masters athlete. Young had run only one other race in the series this season, finishing second at the Empire Challenge. Today she took a ten second margin of victory over open division winner, Jennifer Derego (Aggies). Yiou Wang of Tamalpa was third in the race (second open runner) while Nicole Campbell of WVTC was fourth overall and third open division finisher. Impalas won the open division, followed by host West Valley Track Club (WVTC). A pair of new teams competed today, Mizuno Wolfpack and St. Jospeph's Notre Dame (a school team?).
