Valerie Trierweiler, 48, who is a longtime relationship with France’s President Francois Hollande, 59, is considered the first lady of France. On Sunday, days after rumors broke that Hollande was having an affair with a French actress named Julie Gayet, 41, First Lady Trierweiler was admitted to a hospital, according to the Huffington Post on Sunday. She should be released from the hospital on Monday.

The reason for the hospital stay by the first lady is reported to be that Trierweiler was upset by the reports of the relationship between Hollande and Gayet.

Regarding the future relationship between Trierweiler and Hollande, Patrice Biancone, a spokesperson for the first lady, said that Trierweiler needs to rest – and then she will decide what to do. Trierweiller and Holland have been in a relationship for several years, but they were never married. Hollande fathered four children when he was married to Segolene Royal – a senior member of Hollande’s Socialist Party who ran for president in 2007. Royal and Hollande separated after the 2007 election when she lost to Nicolas Sarkozy.
