Sad news broke via People magazine on March 6. Television icon Valerie Harper has terminal brain cancer, and doctors expect her to only have a few months to live. The star is on the cover of the new issue this week, talking about how she's facing this tragic news.
Valerie Harper's cancer was diagnosed Jan. 15, and she's just now publicly sharing the news. She has leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, a rare form of cancer. Doctors told her she may have as little as three months to live. However, the actress says that she thinks “of being here now,” rather than focus about what lies ahead.
The actress is known for her role as Rhoda Morgenstern on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “Rhoda,” and of course there was the show “Valerie” that co-starred Jason Bateman and Josh Taylor. She also had guest spots in a number of other familiar television shows over the years.
