Valerie Harper and Tristan MacManus graced the dance floor on “Dancing With the Stars” one last time. They danced the Viennese Waltz to Fun’s “Carry On.” Their performance earned them a 6 from each judge. Although Valerie’s dance performance wasn’t stellar, her heart and grace were.
The 74-year-old with terminal brain cancer shared her thoughts after being eliminated from the competition, "It was an opportunity for me to carry a message for folks, not just with cancer, whatever they have, whatever challenge, like our song, 'Carry On, Carry On.'"
Tristan MacManus, who often seemed visibly moved during his time with Valerie, had this to say about his partner, “Sometimes you get very lucky to do well [with] your partner, sometimes you get very lucky in your life to meet someone who can affect them more than this could at all. And I feel like I've been very lucky to get that, and I feel like maybe me life's a little bit better since I met Valerie Harper.”
Valerie was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in January. Best known for her role as Rhoda Morgenstern on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” in the 1970s, she is truly an inspirational woman.
