Italian designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli presented their Valentino haute couture Spring/Summer 2014 collection in a runway show during Paris Couture Week on January 22, 2014 in Paris, France.
Chiuri and Piccioli offer a neutral palette mostly of cream, browns and beiges, grey and black for their latest Valentino collection, with animal prints and a variety of artistic animals-in-the-jungle tableaux, as though in some Rousseau painting, peppered throughout among the pretty florals and lace.
Surprisingly, there’s even an Orient-inspired pajama suit with crane print. And Valentino’s black and white musical note dress definitely brings a smile to your face. So there’s something for all tastes yet the playfulness and fantasy of the animal scenes cannot be downplayed.
Maria Grazia Chiuri herself came out to greet the crowd in a rather lovely beaded and embroidered coat with a silky bottlegreen lining that topped a simple yet chic black sheath, while Pier Paolo Piccioli looked elegant by her side in his black and white suit ensemble.
