After the controversy during the Olympics about whether or not his prosthetic limbs gave him an edge against competitors, Oscar Pistorius is now featured in headlines for a much different reason.
He is being charged with the murder of his 29-year-old model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
Sources say a shooting took place at their home and they were apparently the only two individuals in the house at that time.
Several South Africa media outlets say Steenkamp was mistaken for an intruder, as the area is known for it's high crime rate.
A spokesperson for Pistorius released a statement claiming that the athlete was "assisting the police with their investigation but there will be no further comment until matters become clearer later today."
Police also say that Pistorius has been cooperating, while his father claims "he is very sad right now."
