Does Valentine’s Day come as an unwelcome reminder to you that you’re single among all your married and otherwise matched up friends? Do you feel like all the restaurants don’t want you there simply because you’re taking up half the space and potential revenue of a couple? Do you feel as if all your friends have abandoned you to fulfill their obligatory Valentine’s Day couple requirements?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, fear not Captain Lonely. There are plenty of options for singles in Denver this week. Celebrate, rather than commiserate with fellow singles and perhaps you’ll meet someone special yourself!
Here are a few of the events going on in Denver over the next week where Singles are welcome, and in some cases, couples are not!
Saturday 2/12 Alice 105.9’s Slacker & Steve’s Bitter Ball
Casselman’s 2620 Walnut St, Denver
Last year’s event was one of this Examiner’s favorite parties, complete with a larger than life spin the bottle game (if you so dare), a scandalous Seven Seconds in Heaven booth, and a digital and paper message board. Sip on cocktails and loosen up as you forget about being single, and remember again how to mingle.
Doors Open at 8:00pm
Monday 2/14 2nd Annual Singles Awareness Day
Ginn Mill 2041 Larimer St, Denver
Come to the Ginn Mill on Valentine’s Day to celebrate your single status with your noncommittal peers. But unlike the acronym of Singles Awareness Day, this is one where happiness, not sadness is the predominant emotion. Cheap drinks in an unpretentious environment make the Ginn Mill one of Denver’s most loved hangouts.
Monday 2/14 Ice skating at Belmar for Valentwins
Come with a sibling, friend, or co-worker dressed in similar outfits (as “twins”) and you will both skate for free! Get your time on the ice before it closes, as warm weather will soon be dominating the metro area in the near future.
Free (normally $6 adult, $4 child)
Skate rentals are $3
Friday 2/18 5280’s Single in the City Party
EXDO Event Center 1399 35th St, Denver
Denver’s original Magazine, 5280, once again throws a huge party with a philanthropic twist to celebrate the most eligible singles in Denver, as showcased in their February issue. They claim the party will be bigger, with more bars (which is good because last year the lines got a little ridic), more music, and more singles. If one of the featured singles from their mag caught your eye, here’s your chance to say hello, or just browse among the other fine options that will be present at this shindig.
VIP $125 (includes appetizers, hosted bar, and access to VIP lounge)
Tickets can be purchased at Sol, Garment District, LUXE Salon, Simply Moore, Matthew Morris, Austin Hauck, or Barbara & Company to save $10 –OR they can be purchased online.
Ticket proceeds benefit Volunteers of America.

This opportunity is perfect. The cost is lower than a number of other speed dating events and the location is very sophisticated and classy. Grab a cocktail, think of some interesting things to say in the 6 minutes you have to make an impression, and see if you don’t come away with a few love connection leads.
