Valentine’s Day not only falls on a Friday this year but we also have a full moon in the stars, setting the table for an ideal long and romantic evening no matter what you decide to do. Of course the traditional romantic dinner out is a common plan and there’s no shortage of romantic eateries around the San Diego County to consider but then there’s the crowds, less than personal service and somehow disappointment comes complimentary with the meal.
The quaint coastal community of Carlsbad in North San Diego provides the ideal romantic backdrop with ocean front restaurants, stunning sunsets, and for both locals and out-of-towners it always feels like a charming seaside getaway.
A majority of the fine dining options in Carlsbad have Valentine’s Day specials and many of them require advanced reservations.
Carlsbad is also a great place to catch an informal, yet still gourmet, bite to go. If you prefer to ditch the crowds and formal dining service-getting a bite to go is a relaxing but rewarding way to have your cake and eat it too. From gourmet pizza, sliders, waffle concoctions, a chocolate bar, smoothies, café’s and plenty of authentic Mexican food, there’s no shortage of options in the munch and meander category.
A typical Friday evening in Carlsbad brings out the entire community, bike riding, walking, and skating often lining the seawall or beach to take in the expansive and breathtaking sunsets which the locals never tire of or take for granted.
There’s really two loves of all Carlsbad residents, restaurant owners and businesses alike and those are the ocean and the community. Senor Grubby’s in the heart of the Village by the Sea is no exception and is hosting a Valentine’s Day party and fundraiser in celebration and support of those two elements that make Carlsbad a small town community with a metropolis heart.
This Valentine’s Day Mixer Senor Grubby's is hosting is for singles, couples, friends and families and benefits the “Urban Surf 4 Kids” program, complete with silent auction and raffle prizes. Starting at 7 pm this Friday (Valentine’s Day) until 10 pm, Senor Grubby’s mixer called “Los Lonelies” offers an alternative to the chaos and stress of getting a bite to eat on Valentine’s Day with or without a special person. This event was so successful last year and was praised as the only other option to the traditional Valentine’s Day experience this is the second year of the event and most likely “Los Lonelies” Valentine’s Mixer will become a community tradition for years to come.
