Valentine’s Day romance tips—from Al Sharpton (Video)

Love is in the air … or at least it should be. Today is Valentine’s Day, a day of the year set aside for expressing affection for special someone in your life by helping to boost sales for Hallmark, FTD, and any number of chocolatiers.

Forgive my cynicism. I just squandered 2 minutes and 21 seconds that I will never get back watching a “comedic” performance by TV “journalist” Al Sharpton, and I’m feeling a little grumpy (h/t Mediaite). Channeling former U.S Senator-turned-standup comedian Arlen Specter, the race huckster appeared on E!’s The Soup, where he dispensed hilarious suggestions for how to wow your better (or worse) half.

Typical of the suggestions in the video: “Set up a tent city of caring and Occupy her heart.”

Maybe my problem is an inability to laugh at smarmy jokes written for a man who has devoted his life to spewing hatred and division. Or maybe it was the material. Perhaps the corners of my mouth would have turned up if one of Sharpton’s suggestions had begun “Spend the $2.6 million in back taxes you owe to the IRS on ….”
