Valentine's Day outfit ideas

While you may be out shopping for the perfect gift for your Valentine, or ensuring you have a backup plan in case something falls through, the thought of what to wear may have slipped your mind.

There are so many ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day, which calls for a variety of different outfits. The best part is, you probably have most of these items already hanging in your closet.

Spending the evening at home with your lover, family or friends is still a reason to dress up.  Opt for something fun and flirty, but at the same time casual and comfortable. A romper will make the perfect outfit because it’s light and simple by itself, but looks fabulous when worn with a belt and tons of jewelry.

If you’ve got a dinner date, you’ll want to dress your best without overdoing it, which we can all agree is easier said than done, especially in the makeup department. You can never go wrong with a black dress and leather or print tights. Or, if you’re feeling festive, choose a red dress and a pair of black or gold heels to match. That's a no-brainer. Keep in mind, too much red can be detrimental, so if your dress is red, it may not be the best idea to wear a red lip and red nails too.

If you plan on celebrating (or forgetting) Valentine’s Day at a party or a nightclub with your friends, you’ll want to look fabulous while still being able to conquer the dance floor. Rock your favourite pair of skinny jeans with a metallic heel and a clutch to match. If you’re dressing for the Valentine’s Day theme, a red blouse will do just that.

Maybe you don’t plan on acknowledging this holiday at all, and that’s okay too. Instead of being miserable all day, look at it as a “personal day” and celebrate you. Read a book, take a bubble bath, go to Starbucks, get a massage, hang out with Ben & Jerry, join a yoga class, or catch up on your favourite TV show. After all, there is no love like self-love.

Check out these Valentine’s Day fun facts listed below. Happy hearts day!
