Valentine’s Day is another one of those paradoxical occasions that, for some people, is just a flaunting reminder of their solitude.
There’s nothing worse than seeing roses, chocolates and cards everywhere, and receiving nothing because, well, no one’s thinking of you in that special way. That’s just sad! But it doesn’t have to be. It’s all about perspective.
If you see Valentine’s Day as a day to celebrate love, then there’s no time for a pity party. There are way too many opportunities to love people and help those who most need it—children, widows, single moms, abandoned pets, old people, to name a few.
Of course, the local homeless shelters can use an extra hand. And widows or single people would also appreciate a friend spending time with them. Or, if you’re in the outdoorsy mood, you could always take a nice stroll to The Strand in Oceanside on February 13th somewhere between 2pm and 7pm and buy yourself (or anyone else, for that matter) a beautiful gift that would benefit a non-profit organization.
“The Soirée on The Strand” is a special event where a plethora of non-profit organizations present their causes and their wares (sold to benefit of their organizations). Non-profit organizations dedicated to improve the lives of orphans and change communities invite you to join them in spreading the love around and making a difference in the world one step at a time. (A small purchase or a hand-made item can make a big difference to someone living in the third-world.)
Organizations present include World Vision and Orphans First – dedicated to changing underprivileged children’s lives.
Join the fun at “The Soirée on The Strand” this Sunday at this address:
Strand Gazebo & Seagaze Park 104 The Strand South, Oceanside, CA 92054
Check out the “Soirée on The Strand” Facebook page.
Come and make a real difference on Valentine’s Weekend and enjoy free munchies, open-air fun shopping, fellowship and—best of all—helping the needy at the "Soirée on The Strand" in Oceanside.
