In this Three Part series, we'll discuss how to make Valentine's Day fun for you and your loved one, without breaking the bank. Times are hard, wallets are empty, but you still want to show him/her that you care. How/where do you eat? What kind of activity can you do? What about a gift?! This three part series will give you ideas to make Valentine's Day fun for your loved one while still keeping within your budget.
How to Dine on a Dime:
1. Picnic: You can picnic on the beach, on campus, on a park bench, in your living room. With some creativity, and some planning, you can make a get a cheap bottle of wine, make some delicious eats and come in well under budget. Add a flower from your garden or a candle if a flower is too hard to come by. Get your loved ones favorite candy and put red ribbon around it for dessert. It's easy to show how you care, if you put a little effort into. Follow my blog and come back this weekend for some picnic recipe tips!
2. Groupon.com, LivingSocial.com, Restaurant.com: Signup for these sites. They give deals, discounts and offers for different activities, eateries, etc...throughout the area.
3. Happy Hour: Go to your favorite sports bar, pub or dive, have a couple drinks and a few snacks. You can leave as you please, you don't have to have a large dinner if you don't want to and you can have a couple drinks for the special.
5. Appetizers: Finger foods can be sexy. Imagine feeding each other grapes, cheeses, little finger sandwiches. It's a lovely way to get a little closer to your Valentine.
6. Potluck Romance: Perhaps you know of a couple of other couples and some singletons, who'd like to have a small get-together for Valentine's Day. Everyone brings a dish and their beverage of choice. Then the meal is more about the cleanup than the cost.
