Valentine’s Day Massacre at Mad Bob’s Saloon.
I personally can’t believe this is a free show on February 16th. All my favorite aggressive, female fronted bands from this area on one stage for free seems like it was a show made just for me, it can't get much better than this. Thank you to Mad Bob’s or whoever put this night together.
Mongrel has been on the scene for years, rocking nonstop and they were recently transformed by Jessica Sierra into a punk rock powerhouse. Their CD Reclamation is full of powerful songs you can’t help but sing along and throw your fist in the air to. Over the last few months Mongrel has topped my list of favorite local rock bands and Reclamation has gone on almost constant repeat in my playlists, it has gotten to me like very few CD’s from local bands have before.
The only CD I remember getting that much play before was “This is Real…This is Q” but it has been years since I have seen Q take the stage. Not to say I listen to Q any less because of the lack of live shows but finding out that Q will be playing on February 16th too makes this night too exciting to miss…and did I mention it is A FREE SHOW?!?! Hailing from Springfield, Mass, Q has always been known for a very theatrical, high energy show and a hard electronic edge that set them apart from just about every band around.
All but one of the bands is fronted by ladies, ladies that all bring a unique energy and sound. A Simple Complex is no strangers to that spotlight in my CD player either. A little softer than Q or Mongrel, A Simple Complex rounds out the show with seductive, straight up rock. There is something for everyone in this lineup, combine these fierce bands together and make it free, well….it can't get much better than that. A Simple Complex is nominated for Best album and best female vocalist this year and after you come see just how much they rock, swing by their website and put in a vote.
Even though Edgewize just joined my music rotation an hour ago, I have heard a lot of good things about them and I look forward to seeing what these boys have to offer. After listening through “Rebirth” I know for a fact that Edgewize will be one of the biggest bands around soon if their live show matches the raw talent shown on their first full length album Rebirth.
So take my advice and mark your calendars for February 16th. Maybe it is just me but…I can’t think of anything more romantic than some cold drinks at a sweaty rock show…If your valentine is as smart as mine, I will see you at Mad Bob’s.
