Valentine's Day is Coming Soon

February 14 is only ten days away. This year it falls on a Tuesday. Such as it is, many people may move their celebration of the special day to either the weekend before the actual day.  Valentine’s Day is a day to share our love for others. They may be spouses, sweethearts, family members, friends, or a host of other special people. Whoever is the special one, there are many possible ways to show appreciation and love to another.

There are the typical gifts of cards, roses, chocolates, stuffed animals, and novelty items. These are always nice choices. Just remember that the florists will be extremely busy, so order early for the best selection and service. Jewelry is another option that is usually always appreciated. Many restaurants will be offering special dinner packages for Valentine’s Day. It would be wise to plan early and place reservations in advance so as to not be disappointed.

In Kansas City, there are some live performances to pick from for a nice evening out.

Here are some words of wisdom when it comes to kindness and giving, according to Sirach 18: 15-18: “Son, when you help someone, don’t reprimand him at the same time. When you make a gift, don’t say anything that hurts. Your words count for more than what you give. Even dew gives some relief during a spell of hot weather. Yes, kind words are more effective than the best of gifts, and if you are really concerned, you will give both. It is stupid to be unkind and insulting. No one’s eyes are going to sparkle at a gift that you resent giving.”

Whatever is planned for Valentine’s Day, enjoy the day. Fill the day with love.
