Valentine's Day ideas for dining out in Orange County

Valentine’s Day is around the corner.

Whether you are looking for a romantic dinner or just appetizers and a drink, here are some ideas for a Tuesday evening at Orange County restaurants. 

Hello Kitty bubbly to free gift certificates, the restaurants make Valentine’s Day interesting.

Lucca, Irvine:  Opposites Attract.  A four-course menu for $65 per person.  On the menu:  lobster bisque, porcini crusted petite Black Canyon filet mignon, hand-made sorbet duo with a scoop of dark chocolate and fresh raspberry-chocolate chunk.  Vegetarian options are available. 

Bonus:  Every couple dining on Valentine’s Day will receive a $25 gift certificate to come back to Lucca to experience the regular menu.

Haven Gastropub & Brewery, Orange:  Sensual and romantic.  $40 per person prix-fixe.  On the menu: lobster with Kubler’s absinthe “green fairy” dressing, roasted venison, salmon and flourless chocolate cake for dessert.

Bonus:  A wine or beer pairing can be added to each of the three courses for an additional $20 per menu.

The Melting Pot, Irvine:  What’s more romantic than fondue?  $65 per person. A Lover’s Lane Deluxe Package for $275 per couple:  guaranteed seating in the Lover’s Lane Section of the restaurant, a Valentine’s menu for two (single lobster tail, ½ dozen roses with a balloon bouquet and a bottle of Hello Kitty Brut Rose or Rosa Regale Sparkling Wine—and a special gift).

For $350 per couple:  guaranteed seating in the Lover’s Lane section of the restaurant, Valentine’s menu for two (twin lobster tails, one-dozen roses, a bottle of Veuve Cliquot Brut Rose or Veuve Cliquot Yellow Label Brut and a special gift.

Bonus:  Valentine meals offered through Feb. 19.

Sol Cocina, Newport Beach:  Something simple?  A margarita made for two.  Amor y Tequila is a cocktail tribute to St. Valentine. The Baja-style Mexican restaurant makes this frozen drink “with love” for two with Premium Clase Azul La Pinta Pomegranate-Tequila.

Bonus:  Offered through Feb. 17.

French 75, Laguna Beach:  Flight of Champagne.  Ooh, la la.  Valentine’s is written all over this romantic drink.  Also, $95 per person for a four-course meal with such items as grilled prawn salad, roasted scallops, rhubarb crème brulee.
