If you want to do something different this year for Valentine’s Day but not sure if the weather will be warm or ideal; then why not just plan a winter wonderland adventure. It’s not hard to do and will turn out splendidly, regardless if the weather is cold or a little warmer than usual. Here is a suggested winter wonderland itinerary for a very romantic Valentine’s Day date.
First on the Agenda: Go Ice Skating!
A romantic location to go ice skating is at Crown Center Ice Terrace, which is across the street from Crown Center. With admission at $6 a person and rental fees at $3 (you’re welcome to bring your own skates) it’s a perfect beginning to a Valentine’s Day date. After your skating excursion then stroll across the street to browse through the shops in Crown Center or visit Union Station down the street.
If you would rather stay on the Kansas side or avoid traveling into the city, then enjoy a romantic spin on the ice at The Ice at Park Place in Leawood, Kan. At $7 a person for admission and $3 rental fees (you’re welcome to bring your own skates), this is a great way to spend Valentine’s Day with your sweet heart. After your done skating there are plenty of shops to browse at Park Place.
Next: Eat at a Restaurant with Gorgeous Views of Skating Rinks
If you want to grab a bite before or after your go skating at Crown Center Ice Terrace, there are several restaurants in and around Crown Center. If you are looking for a early dinner or something more casual then Fritz’s Railroad Restaurant is a great place for some fun ambiance and reasonable prices. This restaurant is unique because your food is delivered on their model train set but be warned the food is average. It’s the ambiance and décor that makes this restaurant special. Another early dinner option is Milano Italian Dining that offers great Italian dishes at moderate prices. If you prefer fine dining, then consider The American Restaurant, which has beautiful views of Crown Center, the city, and skating rink.
If you decide to venture over to Park Place there are many wonderful restaurants to choose from for an early or late dinner. Some of most popular establishments is Mestizo for some great Mexican dishes and views of the skating rink, park, and shops. Mestizo is also offering some Valentine’s Day specials, which you may want to consider. If you are looking for some additional entertainment and healthy eats, then stop by in-gre-di-ent, which offers great food and beautiful romantic views of the park. There are other wonderful places to eat at Park Place, so be sure to check out Park Place restaurant directory for more options.
Finally: Curl Up with Some Hot Cocoa!
After you're done skating at Crown Center Ice Terrace, you may want to warm up with some hot cocoa or coffee. There is an Einstein Bros. Bagels within Crown Center's food court that serves delicious hot beverages along with Big Momma’s Bakery-Café, which offers sweet treats and hot beverages.
If you want a break from skating at The Ice at Park Place and need a quick warm up, there are plenty of places to stop by for some hot cocoa or cup of coffee. Such as Parisi Café or Cupcake A La Mode, where you can get great hot beverages as well as some sweet treats.
