Valentine's Day healthy, fun breakfast ideas for kids

See also

A great way to start off your child's Valentine's Day is to serve up a special valentine breakfast. Ideas can be as simple as making heart-shaped toast by cutting it from corner to corner and trimming the top into rounded heart shapes, then covering with strawberry or raspberry jam. Or using cookie cutters to create heart-shaped pancakes, then decorating them with strawberry halves that have also been trimmed into heart shapes and writing love messages around the plate with the placement of dark chocolate raisins. The same cookie cutter can be used to cut out a heart-shaped center in a slice of bread which creates the "nest" for a raw egg after the bread is placed in a buttered pan. Fry them both together slowly on each side. At serving, the heart-shaped egg can be outlined with strawberry jam.

A plain old banana split can easily be turned into a healthy valentine breakfast by replacing ice cream with a pink colored yogurt and adding heart-shaped strawberries, nuts, and dark chocolate covered raisins. Or consider whipping up this "love potion" drink by blending raspberry yogurt, frozen red berries, and milk.

The idea is that, with just a little imagination, the same old everyday foods can be dressed up in a fun way. It's the thought that counts most. With so many ideas all over the internet you can make your child's Valentine's Day breakfast special and let them know they're loved!
