One of the great things about the PGA Merchandise Show being held at the end of January each year is that it's a great lead up to Valentine's Day.
I've always thought there were guys and girls at the show that headed home to tell their significant other about the latest and greatest that they saw firsthand at the show. Golfers, always looking for a new tool or two for their game would be more than happy to use the Valentine's Day excuse as a way to add clubs, clothes, and new technology to their golf arsenal.
One drawback, is that many of these products are not available for purchase at this moment, but golfers won't let that ruin the moment, and they will store information away for April or May when many of the items at the show hit store shelves.
Here's a list of some of the items from the 2014 PGA Merchandise Show that would make a great way to say "I Love You" this Valentine's Day.
Every club Edel makes is basically a work of art. From putters, to wedges, and their beautiful irons, Edel showed off their newest last week at the PGA Merchandise Show and they never fail to impress. They were there at Demo Day and on the show floor with their new E-series Torque Balanced putters and their custom Edel Cavity Back irons. All of which would make a golfer's Valentine's Day complete.
Bridgestone's True Balance Putter
Walk into the Bridgestone booth at the PGA Merchandise Show and you will be in awe. There is so much going on, it's almost sensory overload. But it was a putter that stood out to me this year at Bridgestone. The True Balance putter is light. It also does something to attract your attention even after you sink that 20 footer.
This putter remains standing in place after you let it go. A large foam yellow grip makes it stand out. If you like a light, perfectly balanced putter, or know someone who else does... this is the putter then need.
Zepp, an innovative company that makes a small square-shaped sensor that gives you information on your swing plane, swing speed, and tempo. All this information hits your smartphone or tablet faster than you can say "Arnold Palmer." It really works and bonus points to Zepp for allowing this same sensor to be used in baseball and tennis with a small add on attachment. Versatility is key for Valentine's Day 2014- think Zepp Golf.
Oakley's Factory Lite Golf Bag
The lightest golf bag I've ever seen, without sacrificing everything a golf bag should be. It will hold all of the gear you need for a round of golf and checks in at 2.85 pounds. That's light! Made of a cool puncture-proof fabric, it not only looks good, but feels and performs as well. A good price point of about $200 when it comes out. Anything from Oakley says "Happy Valentine's Day."
Groove Caddy is a handy hand-held, powered tool designed for cleaning golf club grooves and cavity backs. Who doesn't need that?
BirdieBox is the one item at the PGA Merchandise Show that will keep on giving. They offer the most unique and personalized way to have great products- golf and non-golf delivered to any address. Each box is attractively packaged and includes the current issue of Golf Digest magazine along with tons of goodies. Think of "The Fruit of the Month Club" but with golfers in mind. Would make a great Valentine's Day, birthday, anniversary, graduation, or anytime gift.
The Ryder Cub with Premier Golf
This may be the ultimate Valentine's Day gift for the golfer in your life. If a trip to Scotland later this year for The Ryder Cup doesn't say "I Love You" nothing does. Premier Golf has been taking golf fans to Ryder Cup matches for 25 year.
The Ryder Cup takes place this year from September 26-28, 2014. From $3,700 per person you can book packages that include accommodations, welcome receptions, full Scottish breakfasts, special Ryder Cup tournament badges, ground transportation, and even a chance to play golf. What a trip this would be for you and your loved one!
Remember, don't forget Valentine's Day.
