What some might call the “funny bone” of North Park’s Lafayette Hotel is Finest City Improv (4250 Louisiana St.) and come Valentine’s weekend, this charming comedy theater will host its very first San Diego Improv Festival.

Over two dozen improv teams will be featured with comedians performing from Fremont, Bakersfield, Los Angeles, Phoenix, New York City, San Francisco, Chicago and of course, San Diego to entertain and amuse the audience.

Amy Lisweski, Founder and Artistic Director of Finest City Improv shares, "This festival finally puts San Diego on the map of great cities for improv comedy. We are one of the last to the improv festival party but will soon be known as one of the best. And, we are doing it all for love... the love of improv."

Workshops and classes will also be available throughout the festival taught by members of Cook County, Holly Laurent and Jet Eveleth from the Reckoning, and Bill Arnett, the former training center director of iO Chicago. The Reckoning, iO Chicago’s longest running team, is one of the festival’s featured performers, coming from the same comedy school that counts Tina Fey and Chris Farley as alumni members.

The Improv Festival will kick off on Valentine’s Day night beginning at 6 p.m. and last through the weekend. Tickets are on sale now at: Buy a ticket package for the whole weekend or buy a block of shows, available for $10 in advance and $15 day of the show. Tickets are limited so don't miss out!
