Cantina Laredo is our choice for the best upscale Mexican food in Jacksonville. The great atmosphere along with excellent food and drinks explains why Cantina is typically filled with people on any given night. Our favorite dishes from Cantina include the Top Shelf Guacamole (prepared tableside), Enchiladas Veracruz, and the Mexican Apple Pie (also served tableside).
This Valentine's Day, Cantina Laredo is having a special celebration that includes an exclusive menu with some great sounding items. The menu is a three-course prix fixe menu that costs $35 per person and tequila cocktail pairings can be added for an additional $15.
To start, diners can choose the Ensalada De Mango, which features mango, jicama, pumpkin seeds, grapes, mint and queso fresco and is topped with honey vinaigrette. Another choice for an appetizer is the Sopa De Pimiento, this is a roasted red pepper soup with almonds and queso fresco. The pairing for the first course is the Pomegranate Margarita, which contains Corazon Reposado, pomegranate liqeur and lime.
For entrees there are three choices. The first is the Enchiladas De Cangrejo, which are enchiladas topped with chile de arbol sauce. Second choice is the Lomo De Cerdo--a pork tenderloin serviced with cascabel pineapple sauce. Lastly, diners can go with the Filet Pasilla, a 7 oz. filet mignon with pasilla pepper sauce. To pair is the Sunset Margarita with Corazon Anejo, Patron Cintronge, lime and Cholula.
A choice between two final items await V-day diners for dessert. The first is the Strawberry Bunuelos: strawberries, whipped cream, and vanilla ice cream on cinnamon chips. The second is the classic Chocolate Cake with seven layers topped with ice cream and chocolate sauce. The Heart Warmer is the final paired drink and consists of Corazon Anejo and Bailey's in coffee.
