Chocolate, the ultimate sin and savior, is the embodiment of the romantic escape known as Valentine's Day. How fortunate for the residents of New Milford, that a premium quality chocolate factory is right in their own backyard. The Bridgewater Chocolate factory and factory store is located in our neighboring town of Brookfield, at 559 Federal Road.
The founder of Bridgewater Chocolate came from Sweden and opened his business when he moved to Bridgewater in 1995. Bridgewater Chocolate won the honor of Most Outstanding Overall Food Product, by the Connecticut Specialty Food Association, has been featured numerous times on The Food Network, and is rumored to be a favorite among the stars. Shipping is available within the U.S. and internationally.
In addition to the Brookfield factory, confections are sold locally at Villarina's in New Milford and at the Village Store in Bridgewater. Ordering can be done by phone or online, but the sight and smell of these magnificent chocolate creations is an experience in itself.
Sugar-free chocolate is available in the dark chocolate truffle and dark chocolate bar selections. Chocolates can be customized with custom mold designs, monograms and silk screening. A personalized printed insert in the box is offered as well.
The chocolate assortment is abundant: Fruit, nuts, marshmallows, cookies, pretzels, and more. My personal favorite for Valentine's Day is The Kitchen Sink, which is chocolate bark with apricots, orange peel, cranberries, hazelnuts, pistachios and almonds.
If you are going to indulge, make it worth your while. This is a romantic escape into chocolate heaven you won't want to miss. Valentine's Day never tasted this good!
