Valentine's Day Cards for Kids Drive

While love may be in the air for many people as we near Cupid’s iconic holiday, thousands of children in local hospitals will be left out of traditional Valentine’s celebrations and classroom parties. This is Austin’s chance to partner with Mix 94.7 and Volusion to brighten the day of an ill child by sending Valentine cards to area hospitals.

Nikki Nite’s Valentine’s Day Cards for Kids Drive calls on schools, offices, organizations, churches, neighborhoods, or even just families to come together and create Valentine cards that will be distributed by the Mix 94.7 staff. This is a chance to utilize scrapbooking material that has piled up and doilies that were sentenced to a lifetime of tea party settings. Lace, cardstock, and glitter could never be more useful than to decorate the card that will be held by a child needing a smile. Remember to also sign every card, for that personal touch.

Although you may be feeling extra generous after having your heartstrings tugged on, please do no send toys, candy, or other gifts. It is also important to note that the cards must be dropped off at the Mix 94.7 studio in order to be distributed properly, so eager beavers, please refrain from personally delivering cards to the children.

After the bountiful collection of cards have been created, please mail/drop off by Tuesday February 7, 2012 at 5:00pm to:

Nikki Nite commented on the success of the drive in years past by stating, “I am blown away every year by the effort that people put into making Valentine’s for the kids. They are so creative!” Austin, as a city, we should continue to give support and encouragement to young ones in our area that so desperately need love and compassion during this time of their life.
