Are you looking for love this Valentine’s Day? Where are you looking?
1 John 4:16 (New International Version)
“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.”
God is love. He loves you very much.
He is the God of love at home, work, and play. Yes, God is alive even in the workplace.
We bowed our heads in prayer, asking God to bless our time together. My friend and I were having lunch in the cafeteria where I work; she works at the same company, a different location.
It’s always a treat to have lunch with my friend, to see her bright smile and share a warm hug with her. On that day, we both had heavy hearts for work situations – even so, lunch was still extremely encouraging.
God spoke to us in a powerful way as we shared our work struggles with each other. It felt good to share my burden.
Galatians 6:2 “Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (NIV)
I had to admit, I had not handled my part of the current challenge well and I asked for prayer for this.
James 5:16 “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” (NIV)
We were both given revelation in how to respond to our not-so-different challenges. God worked through our prayers, speaking to our hearts.
We parted company promising to keep each other in prayer.
Upon returning to work I saw an immediate crack in the situation my heart was so heavy for – this was positively God.
Do you have a friend whose prayers seem to impact your life in a powerful way? God has blessed me with special friends whose prayers have changed my life in countless situations.
The key ingredient is the love they insert into their prayers. I can pray like crazy for myself, as I had been doing in this situation. However, it was when I opened my heart, shared my concerns, and let my friend who loves me pray, that God really moved in a powerful way.
Prayers from a heart of love change the world. I thank God for all the prayers my friends have prayed for me in love.
