Chocolate makes Valentine’s Day even sweeter and this weekend GauchoGourmet is having their second annual “Valentine’s Chocolate” affair cooking class. On Saturday February 8 Pastry Chef Ernest Lopez of Sustenio Restaurant is hosting a cooking class using GauchoGourmet's fine chocolates and baking products.
Chef Ernest will demonstrate how to prepare chocolate truffles and a crunchy chocolate bar. Tempering chocolate is a method of heating and cooling the chocolate in order to use it for dipping or coating and guests will learn this art as well as how to make their own ganache. Chef will be giving out food samples and answer any questions guests may have.
The cost for this class includes a special-take home package filled with recipes and the ingredients needed to make these tasty Valentine’s treats at home. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased online or by calling (210) 277-7930 but space is limited.
GauchoGourmet is a warehouse offering food from Europe, South America and other markets. It is open to the public and offers products like meats, cheese and an olive and salad bar. There are also lunch specials and fresh and organic produce from Johnson’s Backyard Garden on Saturdays.
