Valentine Bandit; 37 years of spreading love through Portland

Portland’s Valentine Bandit has struck again. The secretive offender(s) has been coloring downtown Portland red with love since 1976. Each and every Valentine’s Day, read hearts printed on sheets of letter-sized paper decorate doors and windows throughout the Old Port.

Media outlets such as Evening Express, Portland Press Herald, the Maine Sunday Telegram, Creative Portland, WLBZ Bangor and many others have been printing stories and investigating the Valentine phenomenon for years. However, there is still no definitive character held publicly responsible.

But, who cares! Valentine’s Day is about love – whether or not you are celebrating with friends, family, co-workers or someone special. No matter what your plans may be this Valentine’s Day, be sure to get out and enjoy the love Portland’s Valentine Bandit has yet again provided us.
