Vail Mountain’s newest on-mountain dining experience, The 10th, is now open for the summer. The restaurant serves lunch on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Sunday, Aug. 31.

This summer The 10th offers its traditional modern alpine-inspired menu with a summer twist to include locally-sourced and seasonal ingredients. The 10th also offers a Hiker’s Luncheon which can be pre-ordered to enjoy on the mountain. The bag lunch includes a variety of fresh sandwich options to choose from along with chips, salad, bottled water, whole fruit, and a granola bar.

Located at Mid-Vail, The 10th is accessed by Gondola One from Vail Village. It can also be accessed from Eagle’s Nest via a scenic hike along the Fireweed trail. The mellow, one-mile hike goes from Eagle’s Nest to Mid-Vail and back.

According to Vail Mountain, the 10th features a cozy bar and lounge with fireplace, and a south-facing outdoor deck that captures the afternoon sun and mountain and wildflower views on the Look Ma and Challenge trails.

Opened in Dec. 2011 as Vail’s newest ski-in, ski-out table-service restaurant, The 10th began as a winter lunch establishment. The 10th now offers lunch in summer and winter, as well as winter après and dinner service. It also hosted Vail’s first high-altitude nighttime experience, Decimo, in March 2014. The venue is also available for group events and weddings in summer and winter. Reservations at The 10th are encouraged and can be made by calling 970-754-1010.

Vail Mountain’s has also opened its new ropes challenge course designed specifically for kids at Adventure Ridge. The new activity is an introductory course for children who are not yet big enough to try Vail’s larger ropes challenge courses.

The new kids’ ropes course has six distinct obstacle areas, including rope bridges, suspended wood bridges, swinging logs, and other balance elements. It is designed for kids aged five and older, between 30 and 100 lbs.

The kids ropes course is the second new activity to open at Adventure Ridge this summer, following the recent debut of a new, single-line, 200-foot long zip line, also geared toward kids.

Summer lift tickets for Gondola One and the Eagle Bahn Gondola for access to Adventure Ridge can be purchased at the Vail Village or Lionshead Ticket Offices. All 2014-2015 season pass holders receive unlimited, free scenic access to the both gondolas. Go to www.epicpass.com or visit any ticket office for more information about the Epic Pass.
