B'z 's Buzzer Beat theme- Ichibu to Zenbu tops Oricon Singles Chart
This week, Johnny’s and Associates group V6 led the weekly singles chart with their new single, Guilty. With its up-tempo beats and dance inducing melody, Guilty is easily addicting. The chorus alone is very catchy. It is amazing that most of the V6 members are actually in their 30s because they hardly miss a dance step in their singles promotions this past week. With sales of 62941, V6 tops this week’s charts.
Coming in second is Yuzu with their new single Niji. With this songs positive meaning and Yuzu’s harmonies, the group’s performance of their new single at NTV’s 24-hour TV was one of the event’s highlights. It sold 38531.
Even after four weeks of their single's release, B’z, is still in the top 10. Charting at #3, Ichibu to Zenbu/Drive, proves to be one of the biggest hits this summer. It sold a very decent 18674 records this week. At their heels, dropping down to the #4 spot is SMAP with Sotto Kyutto/ Superstar. Kiyoshi Hikawa closes up the top 5 with Tokimeki no Rumba.
At the bottom-half of the top 10 are several new releases; led by Shunsuke Kiyokiba’s new single Jet, which sold 10108 copies this past week. Ranking #7 is the band the pillows for their new release, Ameagari ni Mita Maboroshi. At #8 is all-girl group Guardians 4’s second single, School Days. The girls sold 9910 copies this week. AKB48,the massively large girl group based out of Akihabara, dropped to the #9 position after ranking #2 last week. Their single Iiwake, Maybe moved 7849, this past week. Closing up the Top 10 is the pillow’s collaboration with Ben Kweller entitled, Lighting Runaway ~No Music, No Life.~.
As for the album charts this week, Superfly’s Box Emotions took away the #1 spot from five-man group Arashi. Her second studio album sold more copies than the other new releases from artists such as Crystal Kay, Ne-Yo, and Beni.
