UW women’s basketball takes down Oregon State in overtime

The Washington Huskies extended their winning streak to three games, using a late rally to pick up an 81-77 overtime win against the Oregon State Beavers on Friday night.

After sweeping Washington State last week, the Huskies made big plays when they had to against the Beavers, improving to 13-5 overall and 5-2 in Pac-12 play.

Kristi Kingma was one of four Huskies to reach double digits, scoring a game-high 29 points. Talia Walton chipped in 17 points, while Heather Corral added 14.

The Huskies struggled offensively much of the night, shooting just 34.4 percent from the field. But the Huskies made their free throws (27-of-30) and took care of the basketball, turning the ball over just nine times.

Mercedes Wetmore scored 12 points and led the Huskies with five assists, while Aminah Williams and Walton shared game-high honors with 11 rebounds each.

The Huskies return to the hardcourt on Sunday when they host the Oregon Ducks.
