UTSA Women's Tennis continued to struggle as they lost their sixth straight tie to fall to 0-5 in WAC play losing 4-1 to UT Arlington at the UTSA Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
UTA took the doubles point, easily winning the first and third encounter as they managed two 8-2 victories leaving the second match unfinished at 6-6.
UTA took a 3-1 lead, making a UTSA win almost impossible as Brook Dennis and Verena Scott both won 6-3, 6-2.
Needing a win to keep things alive UTSA got their sole win of the contest when Jacobea Junger defeated Katar Dikosavljevic 6-4, 6-1.
That was only a temporary stay of execution as Kavya Menon failed to hold on, losing the second set on a tie break falling 6-1, 7-6 (7-4).
The scoreline could have been slightly better for UTSA with Miranda Polie on the verge of victory as she held a 6-4, 2-6, 5-3 lead when Menon lost.
UTSA will look to get at least one home WAC win on Sunday as they see off seniors Natalie Hand, Mariel Maffezzolli and Menon ahead of their tie against New Mexico State.
UTSA currently sit in ninth place and need a win if they are to jump in to the top eight and qualify for the WAC Championships in Denver at the end of the month.
