UTSA's good form continued on Sunday afternoon as they managed a 2-1 win over Sam Houston State at Pritchett Field in Huntsville.
It makes it only the second time that UTSA have won both matches in their opening weekend in school history as they look to push on from last season.
Also continuing good form was Kaytee O'Brien who again proved hugely influential for the Roadrunners and is looking like having a good season.
On the half-hour Anissa Munson was found by a cross, which she headed at goal only to be denied by a save from Kylie Hambleton only for the rebound to fall to O'Brien who scored her second goal in as many matches.
The Bearkats tried to come out and find an equalizer in the final 15 minutes of the first half but the Roadrunners defense stood strong, keeping it 1-0 at the break.
Despite UTS A looking strong, the Bearkats came out from half-time powerfully and were determined to find an equalizer, which they did 12 minutes in to the second half as Allie Johnson was able to send home an equalizer.
But UTSA fought back and four minutes later they forced a corner after some neat play, and it was just the opportunity that the Roadrunners needed as they got their winner from the corner.
Charlotte Husoe was able to send in the corner whipping it in to the far post where Munson had made a clever run and headed home the goal that would put UTSA in front.
That allowed the UTSA defense the confidence they needed and they were able to restrict Sam Houston to three shots, that didn’t trouble UTSA too much as they held on for the 2-1 win.
