UTSA kept their perfect record against Texas A&M Corpus Christi Volleyball on Monday as they managed their 17th straight win against the Islanders at Corpus Christi, 25-23, 20-25, 25-17, 25-23.
McKenzie Adams continued to show why she was tabbed as the CUSA pre-season player of the year as she managed 20 kills while Dajana Boskovic managed 14 and Jessica Waldrip continued her impressive debut season with 39 assists, the third straight match she's managed a career-high.
The Roadrunners impressed in the first set pulling out to a 10-3 lead before TAMUCC were able to start closing the gab down to 13-9 only for UTSA to respond with a 6-3 run to put themselves on the brink before A&M Corpus Christi leveled the game at 22 only for UTSA to manage a 3-1 run to claim the first.
UTSA got off to another good start in the second set as they shot out to a 7-3 lead but the Islanders took the lead thanks to an 8-3 run of their own. UTSA got back to 20-13 only for the Islanders to shoot out and win the second set 25-20, leveling the match.
The third was an impressive display defensively from the Roadrunners as they restricted the Islanders to a .071 hitting percentage and the hosts could only manage to get consecutive points once in the whole set as UTSA ran away with it 25-17.
Needing to win the fourth to stay alive the Islanders ran out to a 7-2 lead and were looking well on track as they held a 22-18 lead only for a 7-1 run for UTSA to seal the match thanks to four straight errors by the Islanders.
